Mike Abbasithe Father: A lifelong entrepreneur and a true people person. Mike immigrated to the US with his parents and siblings in the early 1970’s and immediately got working toward the great American dream. He started as a night employee in an embroidery factory being responsible for one machine. Soon after, Mike leased the machine from the factory owner and started manufacturing his own designs selling to his own small customer base. This was the first entrepreneurial action Mike had taken in his life. With success in keeping this first machine fully occupied, Mike purchased the whole factory which contained four machines. From there Sunshine Embroidery was born, a successful business that would span approximately three decades. Mike went on to purchase three more factories with a large full time staff. With business doing well in the New Jersey / New York area, Mike opened a branch in California to capitalize on the West Coast market and was then a national operation. Things were good.

Slowly over the years more and more manufacturing started moving to lower cost countries and the competitiveness of US operations declined. Business started to decline and many embroidery factories in the New Jersey area started closing down. At this point Mike realized he needed to change strategies and look to the future. With four factories and the land they stood on under his ownership, he began dismantling the machines which once were his livelihood and tearing down the factories to make way for new homes. With this move the long relationship with construction and development was born.

Moe Abbasithe Son: From a young age Moe would tag along with his father whenever possible watching him run his business and leading his team. Since Mike never had the chance to go to college, he wanted to make sure his son would. Moe went to Rutgers University where he studied Finance; during that time he sold real estate and became well acquainted with the property market. During his junior year at Rutgers, Moe and Mike pooled some money together and bought a property to develop, and Abbasi Construction was born.

During the following 6 years, the company flourished into a multi-million dollar business, only to be hindered by the burst of the real estate bubble. As more customers could not qualify for loans, the new homes being developed by the company were sitting on the market. Mike encouraged Moe to start a career in a major corporation to weather the storm. Moe did just that and also went back to school to get his MBA. He soon became an expatriate traveling the world and working in countries such as Luxembourg and Dubai. With a lot of growth and promotion in large corporations, Moe could never realize his passion of real estate and construction. He finally resigned from the corporate world to return to his home town after 7 years and re-join his father in Abbasi Construction.
